Less Chinese spyware means less reverse engineering of software that harvests data and risks domestic security & intelligence breaches :)

Yes, I agree the internet was more lively back then because it wasn't centralized, it had a wild-west style quality to it. It's been sanitized and more conglomerates control a bigger piece of the pie, but that's a double-edged sword in my opinion.

I get it, but they should've banned it sooner. It feels like they were sitting on their hands while everyone was building up their companies and communities on borrowed time.

It also feels like some of these sites are dying. Realistically that's probably not the case, but this is the only place so far where I haven't felt like we were bleeding users.

If you're looking for 'places to be found as an artist', Bluesky is popular* and as far as I can tell, Cara sees some use.
Other than that... Check out where other artists who publish similar works upload their content. Then create accounts in those places as well. That way, even if some of the other places are not to your liking, you will still have alternatives.

Oh, and I have literally not heard 'a single peep' about "PillowFort" ever since its inception. My theory: It's a mimic and it _eats_ people. ;)

* I have 'Bluesky-opinions' ( https://yatsufusa.newgrounds.com/news/post/1487260 ), but it 'is' popular...

I haven't touched Cara in a while and Bluesky is leagues less toxic than Twitter. I'll get used to the change and prepare for next year. I'll read the thread later today, thank you!

I forgot about PillowFort. I was supposed to make an account back in the day to troll people but it never took off lol

I feel as if the internet is starting to alienate people, at least for me. With all this platforms that are shooting themselves in the foot and new ones popping up, I don't see how I could keep hopping around. It's too much to manage, I feel. I really only use insta/Facebook to show my friends and family my work, and I agree with you about Newgrounds. Plus I've met a lot of people through ng, which is awesome. Both hobbiest and industry people.
Also, sorry to hear about those places irl. That's never fun :(

I'm tired of getting attached to online junk and having the thing I like burst into flames. I think NG will be the only place we don't jave to worry about (hopefully)

@AldilusRex My apologies, due to negligence I forgot to mention: Just search for "Bluesky" in the post I linked. You do not have to read the whole post.

TikTok, never used it, The internet was more lively back then because no one knew what to do.

I miss those days 🥲
